You are never prepared for the phone call that comes at 9:30 p.m. from your Dr. and you never forget the words he speaks. " You have breast cancer," he tells you. That moment changes things forever.
People are even more important and precious to you than they were before. I hang onto my grandkids a little tighter these days, you never know when that could all taken from you in the beat of a heart.
I have made a full recovery but all are not so lucky and I will try to live life to make those proud who cannot live a life of any kind. But god bless all of you for your brave fights for your lives to live another day to see your family.

July Heat
Well, the July heat is here. What does one do when it's hot and humid outside (besides go to the beach that is) you write of course!! I am currently working on a couple of short stories for a local book of, about and by grandmothers of the Chippewa Valley. In it you will find stories of all kinds; sad and happy ones, heartwarming ones or just plain humorous ones. Mine for last year was title: Life Before...Just About Everything! I went into great detail about life before indoor plumbing, set in the good old 50's and 60's of my childhood. I shared plenty of stories on children being let loose with just warnings, don't stick your fingers in the fan, don't get your hand in the fly wheel of the tractor, don't stick your hand into the syryp for the peanut brittle or the hot soup. It was just assumed that you were listening and would mind, and usually you did. Now, parents follow their kids from room to room for fear they might get hurt, of course if they do, then they are terrible parents. Or worse, if they need stitches, social services will come knocking on their door. Great world we live in that kids can't learn by doing anymore. Well, enough of that, back to the book. It is a wonderful publication that will "go out with a bang" this year and will not be seen again. Shame real shame.
My story this year is about my second home as a child. I had no grandparents so my parents neighbors and friends sort of adopted me. I had many great experiences in the Freid household and talk about them for the next issue of the book. Pick one up this year and you will be hooked. (next year too)
And then I am preparing for an author's event that my group is holding on July 30,2013 at the Chetek Library. We will be speaking on our travels as Self Published Authors. My speaking partner and I will be doing the pros and cons of the process. And the remaining five authors will cover other topics. Come on in and listen at 7pm!!

Poetica Gramatica
The 2013 copies of Poetica Gramatica are out!! They published my piece, 'Life without. - just about Everything.' The book is in its tenth and final year. Will be sad to see it end, it is always wonderful to read all of the stories that have been published in it. People have interesting lives and sharing them is with us is priceless. I will definitely be submitting another story on my life as a young lady.

Writing a book
Writing a novel can be many things; exciting, exhilarating, excrutiating and excellent! Why all the ex words you say, because that's just how I'm feeling about it today. I have had a winter like no other and have not been able to write a single word. It is time for that to stop, NOW. But before I organize all of my ramblings into some sort of sensible chapters, I must take baby steps and get back into the onlne world a bit. So, slowly I go, I need to format Acres of Bitterness into an ebook. before I start more writing of Bittersweet Reunions. I am trying to attend various sales and sell my book, but it is getting harder to do, I need to get my strength back from this winter. I had a bout with Breast Cancer, but am completely fine now. Then we remodeled our kitchen and that did me in. I was kept so busy with both of those things, that any energy for my book, or either of them, was out of the question. I'm hoping for a little time now to get back into the swing of it. Still trying to work one day a week, but I think that has to stop very soon. The grandkids will be with us a couple days a week this summer, and I want to save my energy for them, they are more important than anything to me. With that being said, I'm signing off for today. Happy Mothers Day to all moms out there

Writers Block
On the subject of writers block, someone recently posted: "don't be a baby, there is no such thing as writers block." Someone responded a couple of days ago that teachers or doctors don't get blocked. I strongly disagree there. When the teacher tells the students they have a field trip tomorrow, thus giving no notice to parents, babysitters and the like and then say they "spaced it out." That is block. Or when you go to the dr. for a cut on your finger and he gives you an antibiotic only to make your finger turn bright red, throb and swell to the size of a cigar, and then admits when you go back in that he "shoulda known that one wouldn't work for that." That is block. Same applies to each and every single individual or enterprise which requires human thought behind it. Block happens.

Winter Still???
April 20, 2013 and still winter? I guess so, the weather indicates it anyway. Cold, windy and snowy, what's the deal? At least the sun is out today. Good day to stay in and read and write, will try anyway. Seem to have writers block, well actually just worries block. Too much important health issues of myself and famiy members on the brain and rightly so. Perhaps taking time off will jump start me when I am ready.

April Fool's Day
Hope you all survived April Fools Day without to much incident. I lost everything in my inbox a day prior to, I figure it was a surprise in advance. Have no idea how it happened. I was in another site altogether and when I went back, poof, it had disappeared. I lost alot of important email too. Nice huh, now what? Nothing, I guess, just have to put on my big girl panties and deal with it, as they say!
Native American reading is my favorite kind of romance novel or historical fiction. Reading about Idaho, the Rocky Mts, the Bitterroots and the Nez Perce get my attention too!
